A part of account occurs when the prime department sets up a distinct account for the sub-department, under the subs ORG #. For example: Biostats is the prime. Their ORG is 23YYY. SBS (ORG 23XXX) is a sub. Biostats allows some money to be moved to the 23XXX ORG so that SBS directly controls the money. This is a part of account.
Drawing support: In this scenario, all the money stays in the primary ORG (for the sake of our example, let’s says all the money remains at 23YYY)> In this case, the Co-I from the sub-department draws money directly from the primary ORG’s account. The sub-department has no control over the money other than to ask to draw money towards a salary (or whatever) example: Biostats is the prime. Their ORG is 23YYY. SBS (ORG 23XXX) is a sub. There is one Co-I at SBS. Biostats keeps all the money in their ORG and SBS must request money from the Biostats account that pays the Co-I directly. SBS never actually has a true account, so there is no POA.
